Secrets of the Big Dogs: Beyond Ad Copy Basics

Okay, now that I have good leads, how do I
motivate those leads to buy my stuff?
Now that is a good question.
Just about anyone can locate good leads with
a little research and testing. But very few people
ever figure out how to use words to convert leads
into sales.
The inability to solve this problem sinks many
aspiring netpreneurs before they get far from shore.
This need not be. Let me show you how to keep
sailing when others sink.
Realize that the C.H.I.P. programs are
your test market. They let you know all about your
advertisements. Clickbank and Adminder in
particular act as harsh critics of your work.
If your headline doesn't put your prospects into a
headlock and force them to read your letter,
of course, you will have few clicks and zero sales.
How do you write a great headline? Easy, tell your
audience something that will either help them make
money, or help them stop wasting money.
Remember, time is money too. These people
don't know you, care about you, or want to read your
email--unless you can help them succeed online. So
give them what they want.
My best headline is simply,
"##### Special REPORT on FFAs #####".
It works incredibly well because of several reasons:
(1) People instantly understand that learning more about
FFA sites may lead to them making more dinero, or
may lead to them losing less dinero.
(2) It talks about something that interests them--FFA sites.
(3) It doesn't try to sell them anything.
(4) It creates a tremendous curiosity in the readers to learn
what in the world is so"special" about this "report"?
Are you starting to get it?
The headline must be a powerful lure and hook all rolled
into one. It practically forces your prospects to start
reading the body of your ad.
If the body of the advertisement doesn't captivate your
audience as you reveal to them the benefits of your offer--
if it doesn't emotionally stir them and make them emotionally
connect with you, as a genuine and sincere friend who is
trying to help them out, your readers will quickly get bored
and click away forever. Again, you will have few clicks and zero
sales.
This is where you either tell your story (as nothing is
more powerful than a testimonial) or you tell a story. And as
you tell the story, you must shatter the boundaries between you
and your reader, and let them feel the emotions of your story
or the story that you tell.
People love stories, but keep in mind that they are busy, so you
must keep on track and reveal to them how they can make
money with your offer. Here is an example of everything I am
talking about. It is a passage from my best letter,"##### Special
REPORT on FFAs #####":
"I am so excited about being able to help people make it online, I am about to BURST.
Nothing feels better than being able to help someone who is walking the same path that you are.
All of us need targeted traffic. Without it, our programs and products collect dust.
Whether you are a novice or a professional, this information can help you reach the next level.
It has changed my life for the better; and I am only one of many success stories."
Get the idea?
The body of the letter takes the momentum that the headline
generates, and accelerates it. It gets your readers blood pumping
as they identify with your story. They start to feel that this story
can also be theirs--that they also can succeed with your offer!
Now that you have generated all of this excitement, you must
channel it and convert it into real, concrete action. It is time to stir
your readers to action. This is the last part of your letter. It must
drive your prospects to your sales site.
But that is not enough. They must not only practically be in a
hypnotic state in which they are susceptible to every "suggestion"
you plant in their mind, but you must plant the correct "suggestions"
in their mind so that they believe every word that your sales site says.
Am I telling you to deceive people? Not at all. Simply let them know
that they can trust the information at your sales site.
If your call to action does not properly emotionally prepare your
readers to read your sales site and believe every word that it says, you
may very well get many clicks, but you will get few or no s-a-l-e-s.
I believe that many marketers fail to understand the importance of the
call to action. They may think that the call to action is simply the URL of
your site. I strongly disagree with this line of thought. There are simply
too many competing promotional letters out there, bombarding your
target market, for you to get away with using anything other than a killer
call to action.
You must pack a serious punch with this part of your letter, or you will be
unable to distinguish yourself from your competition. Remember, people
easily forget things. But the thing that they will most likely remember is
the last thing that you tell them. So make those words count and you will
dominate your competition.
Here is my call to action for "##### Special REPORT on FFAs #####":
"I invite you to go to the same site that I went to when I was looking for
the same answers you are.
I ask that you take your time and really absorb the information there. It is worth your time.
Then, if you have any questions, feel free to ask me. Or you can even ask the author of the
ebook.
His contact information is at the site and yes, he actually responds!
